The short version: Chalk It In does not collect, store, or share your personal information. The app works without an account.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact details.
  • We do not track your location.
  • We do not run advertising SDKs or analytics trackers.
  • We do not build profiles about you.
  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

How Your Data Is Stored

On Your Device

All bookmarks, schedules, labels, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud Sync.

iCloud Sync

If you use iCloud Sync, your app data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. This data is:

  • Encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple.
  • Accessible only to you via your Apple ID.
  • Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

We have no access to your iCloud data.

URL Metadata

When you add a URL to the app, Chalk It In may fetch publicly available metadata (page title, estimated reading time) from that URL to help you identify your bookmarks. This request is made directly from your device to the website. No metadata is sent to our servers — we do not operate any servers.

Notifications

The app uses iOS local notifications to remind you about scheduled bookmarks. Notification data is processed entirely on your device by Apple's UserNotifications framework. No notification content is sent to us.

Purchases (Chalk It In Pro)

If you purchase Chalk It In Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple through Apple In-App Purchase. We use RevenueCat as a StoreKit management layer to verify and manage your purchase entitlement.

RevenueCat may collect anonymized purchase and entitlement data associated with your Apple App Store receipt. RevenueCat does not receive your name or Apple ID. You can review RevenueCat's privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apple's handling of payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Chalk It In is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable law (including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, PDPA, LGPD, and equivalent regional laws) to:

  • Access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your personal data.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Because Chalk It In does not collect personal data, we have no personal data to provide, correct, or delete. If you have questions about how Apple or RevenueCat handle data on our behalf, please refer to their respective privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
